Found this recipe on-line – sounded good – sounded quick – sounded easy – had all the ingredients. Tried it. Took less than 10 minutes start to finish. Best new food of the week! Maybe the month! Now where did I find that recipe? Gotta find it again, pin it, post it, nail it down – this is a keeper!
Tamari Chickpeas
1 1/2 T tamari
1 1/2 T real maple syrup
1 t seasoned rice vinegar (hot pepper is my favorite)
few grinds black pepper
1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
Mix first four ingredients in small sauce pan and bring to simmer. Add drained and rinsed chickpeas and toss to coat. Continue to stir or toss occasionally till liquid is reduced and chickpeas are coated and colored and look good enough to pop right into your mouth. Sprinkle on crushed red pepper flakes (to taste – I like several shakes but some people are wimps – you decide).
Enjoy as is, or use to top a rice bowl or salad or add to a wrap or…..
Yum!
