Hello, My question for Jane Esselstyn is regarding er father’s recommendation to increase Nitric Oxide in the endothelial cell lining of the arteries for increased vasodilation.

Dr. Esselstyn said to eat green leafy vegetables 6X day, a fistful in boiling water for 5-1/2 to 6 minutes.
Then top off with lemon juice or balsamic vinegar.

Is that the recipe in itself?

I can’t find much in the cookbook.

Pleas advise of recipes for cooked greens.

I suppose blending greens are unacceptable.

What about freeze dried powered greens or beets?

By the by. I love greens.

Are Raw greens not ineffective for nictric Oxide production?

I thought boiling greens would destroy the enzymes?????

    Thank you for time.

The best way to eat greens fir the module health effect is the way you can and will eat them. I wouldn’t worry about a brief boiling. Yes some nutrients will be lost but you will also be eating a much larger portion since we all know how much greens shrink when cooked. Blending, also not ideal, but if you enjoy greens that way and will eat more of them that way, then do it. If you can, I’d suggest a variety, including big leafy green raw salads often. Enjoy!
